This past weekend, Ligbron Academy's rugby teams faced off against Hoërskool Oos-Moot in a series of intense matches in Pretoria. The weekend's highlight was undoubtedly the first team's hard-fought victory, defeating Oos-Moot 50-41.
The match saw exceptional performances from several players. Janco Classen, Divan Scheepers, Bandile Thanjekwayo, Siyanda Dennison, Neo Zwane, who scored two tries, and Anele Ngwenya each contributed to the seven tries that led Ligbron to victory. Divan van Jaarsveld successfully converted one of the tries, while Renier van Staden expertly converted five tries and kicked a penalty goal.
The results of the other matches are as follows:
- Under 14 A: Lost 13-20
- Under 14 B: Won 24-17
- Under 15 A: Lost 12-35
- Under 15 B: Lost 5-38
- Under 16 A: Lost 17-21
- Under 16 B: Lost 0-7
- Third Team: Lost 7-12
- Second Team: Lost 3-17
Despite some losses, the determination and sportsmanship displayed by all teams were commendable. The Ligbron first team’s victory is a testament to their hard work and dedication, promising an exciting season for Ligbron rugby.
