Several young athletes from Ermelo English Primary School have earned top honours at the District Athletics held on 14 February 2026, securing their place in the Gert Sibande Athletics Team. According to the official results, standout performances included Fisokuhle Mango (U/13) who claimed first place in the 100m and second in the 200m, Amahle Vilakazi (U/12) who won the 150m and finished second in Long Jump, and Mpilenhle Zimu (U/11) who secured second place in Long Jump. Other notable achievements came from Ulilitha Dladla, Isabella Mahlangu, Simamukele Sithole and Luthando Zwane, who all delivered strong performances across their respective events.

The athletes will now represent the district as part of the Gert Sibande Athletics Team at the Provincial Primaries Athletics Championship on 27 February. Their qualification is a testament to their dedication, hard work and determination on the track and in the field, and the community will be rallying behind them as they take the next step at provincial level.
