Four suspects aged between 31 and 37 were arrested for allegedly dealing in drugs at a shopping complex in Mpumalanga following a coordinated police operation on Thursday, 13 February 2026.

According to the South African Police Service, members acted on information about a suspect believed to be selling drugs in and around a shopping complex in White River.

An undercover buy-and-bust operation was conducted after police identified a grey Mercedes-Benz linked to the alleged drug dealing. The suspect was reportedly charging R300 per packet.

Police units, including the Tactical Response Team and K9 Unit, staged a waylay operation at the identified location. After the undercover agent confirmed that a transaction had taken place, officers moved in and stopped the vehicle. Marked money used during the operation was recovered from the suspect, along with a plastic packet containing crystal methamphetamine. A further search of the vehicle, assisted by a police dog, led to the discovery of additional drugs concealed in small tin containers.

All four suspects were arrested and are expected to appear before the White River Magistrate’s Court on 16 February 2026. Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Zeph Mkhwanazi, praised the officers involved for their swift and coordinated response, reiterating that police in the province maintain a zero-tolerance approach to drug-related crimes.
