Police in Mpumalanga intercepted a truck transporting a large quantity of dagga on the N17 near Oshoek earlier this week. The operation took place on the evening of 16 March 2026, where officers recovered over 670 kilograms of dagga with an estimated street value of R1 million.
According to a media statement from the office of the Provincial Commissioner, members were conducting a routine stop-and-search operation when they pulled over a Volvo truck with a horse-and-trailer. The driver allegedly ignored police instructions to stop, prompting a pursuit. During the chase, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes.
