Police in Morgenzon have successfully recovered multiple consignments of dagga during early morning operations along the R39 between Ermelo and Standerton.
According to a media statement issued by the Office of the Provincial Commissioner in Mpumalanga, members of the Crime Prevention Unit (CSC) were conducting routine stop-and-search duties on 2 April 2026 when they discovered five plastic bags of dagga.

In a separate but related operation on the same day, members from Vispol Support, working alongside detectives, established a vehicle checkpoint (VCP) along the same route. During this operation, officers recovered two additional compressed parcels of dagga.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon. The South African Police Service (SAPS) reiterated its commitment to combating the distribution and abuse of drugs and ensuring safer communities.
