A property at 48 Oosthuizen Street in Ermelo has been shut down following a court-approved eviction carried out by the Office of the Sheriff on Tuesday, 14 April.

The property was allegedly operating as a brothel and had been the subject of ongoing complaints from residents, who cited prostitution, suspicious activity, and related criminal behaviour affecting safety in the area. Authorities executed the closure in line with legal procedures, issuing eviction notices before removing occupants and securing the premises.

Residents have welcomed the action, describing it as a long-awaited intervention after years of concerns. While the closure has brought relief, community members have raised concerns that similar activities may still be taking place elsewhere in Ermelo and have called for continued enforcement.
