Residents of Msukaligwa and the greater Gert Sibande District will have an opportunity to make their voices heard during the upcoming Public Hearings on the Water Services Amendment Bill [B24—2025], set to take place in Ermelo on Sunday, 17 May 2026.

The hearings, hosted by Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation, aim to gather public comments and inputs on proposed amendments to the Water Services Act of 1997. Among the proposed changes are stricter compliance measures, licensing systems for water service delivery, governance requirements for water boards, and additional penalties for offences related to water services.

The Mpumalanga session will be held at the Gert Sibande Council Chamber in Ermelo from 10:00.

Residents, stakeholders and community organisations are encouraged to attend and participate in discussions that could shape the future of water and sanitation service delivery in South Africa.
