Residents in several Ermelo areas may experience temporary waste collection delays following multiple truck breakdowns affecting the Msukaligwa Local Municipality’s refuse removal services. The municipality issued the notice on Thursday, 15 May 2026, confirming that collections have been temporarily suspended in selected areas while repairs are underway.

According to the municipality, the affected areas include Phumula, Extension 2, Madanini, Thembisa, Thuthukani and Cwebezela. Residents in these areas have been urged to keep refuse securely inside their yards until normal collection services resume to prevent littering and animals from scattering waste.

The municipality said it expects the trucks to be repaired over the weekend and assured residents that updates will be communicated once the vehicles are back in operation. Msukaligwa Local Municipality also apologised for the inconvenience and thanked the community for its patience during the disruption.
