Laerskool JJ van der Merwe’s netball teams delivered excellent performances during the Gert Sibande playoffs held on 23 May 2026.

A standout performance came from the O/11A team, who dominated their fixtures and were crowned Gert Sibande Winners after securing victories over Sasolia, Laerskool Ermelo, EEPS, Standerton and Secunda in the final.

Other strong performances included:
- O/10A – Finished 5th overall
- O/11A – Finished 1st – Gert Sibande Winners
- O/12A – Finished 3rd overall
- O/13A – Finished 2nd – Gert Sibande Runners-up

The O/11A team secured qualification for the upcoming Mpumalanga Challenger Cup, which will be held on 20 June in Middelburg, while the O/12A and O/13A teams qualified for the Mpumalanga Championships taking place on 15 and 16 June in Middelburg.
