Laerskool JJ van der Merwe recently hosted its Leaders Golf Day at Ermelo Golf Club, bringing together players, sponsors, parents and supporters for a day centred around sport, fundraising and community spirit. Held on 22 May, the event followed a 2 Ball Better Ball with Scramble Drive format with a shotgun start as teams took to the course in a friendly but competitive atmosphere.
Throughout the day, participants competed for top honours and special prizes, while the event also served as an opportunity to raise funds in support of the school. The success of the golf day was made possible through the support of numerous sponsors and contributors whose assistance helped ensure a well-organised and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Following the day’s play, guests gathered for a dinner and prize-giving ceremony, creating a fitting conclusion to the event. The evening allowed players and supporters the chance to relax and reflect on the highlights of the day while recognising the efforts and achievements of participants. A fundraising auction also formed part of the evening programme, with various prizes and items generously donated by community members and local businesses going under the hammer. Enthusiastic bidding added excitement to the occasion, with the evening ending on a high note and further showcasing the strong support and unity within the local community.
