Residents in parts of Ermelo and Wesselton may experience low water pressure and intermittent water supply after the Northern Water Treatment Works encountered operational challenges on the morning of 26 May. According to a notice issued by Msukaligwa Local Municipality, the disruption is linked to continuous power tripping affecting a mobile raw water pump, which is currently out of service while repair work is underway.
The municipality stated that although the affected mobile pump is offline, the remaining three raw water pumps are still operational and continue supplying water to the treatment works at around 50% of normal capacity. Areas that may be affected include Wesselton Extensions, Ermelo East, Ermelo Town, the Industrial Area and parts of Nederland Park. To assist residents, water tankers have been allocated to Ermelo East and Wesselton Extension 2 while repairs continue. The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience and said further updates will be provided as work progresses.
