Families, schools and dinosaur enthusiasts will have the opportunity to step back in time this weekend as the Dinosaur World Festival Ermelo 2026 arrives at the cricket field at A.J. Swanepoel Stadium from 5 to 7 June, daily from 09:00 to 17:00. According to the Director Producer David Huni, the exhibition features life-sized animatronic and static dinosaur models, educational displays, family activities, rides, inflatable castles, live music and the perfect enviroment for family picnics and interactive experiences.

Among the biggest attractions are two giant dinosaur models that tower over the exhibition grounds:

Tyrannosaurus rex (T-Rex)

The mighty T-Rex is one of the most famous dinosaurs ever discovered. It lived approximately 68 to 66 million years ago and was one of the largest land predators in history.

Quick Facts:

  • Height at the hips: About 3.7 to 4 metres
  • Weight: Up to 9 tonnes
  • Possessed one of the most powerful bite forces of any land animal ever known.
  • Despite its tiny-looking arms, they were incredibly strong and muscular.
  • Its name means "Tyrant Lizard King."

Australotitan cooperensis

Nicknamed "Cooper", Australotitan is the largest dinosaur ever discovered in Australia and ranks among the biggest dinosaurs known to science.

Quick Facts:

  • Length: Approximately 25 to 30 metres
  • Height: Around 5 to 6.5 metres at the hip
  • Weight: Estimated between 23 and 74 tonnes
  • It was a giant plant-eating titanosaur.
  • The dinosaur lived around 92 to 96 million years ago.
  • Its name means "Southern Titan." (Ageofdinosaurs)

The exhibition's Jurassic Giants section features these massive creatures, including a 12-metre-long T-Rex and a 20-metre-long Australotitan model, giving visitors a sense of just how enormous these prehistoric animals were.

The festival also includes the Dino Expo, amusement rides, fossil excavation activities, dinosaur-themed entertainment and picnic areas, making it a family-friendly outing for all ages.
