Police in Ermelo have made a significant breakthrough, arresting two male suspects, aged 45 and 50, in connection with a fatal double shooting. The incident occurred during the early hours of Wednesday January 1st 2025, when two 21-year-old men were shot while sitting inside a Toyota Avanza parked outside a club in Ermelo.

Preliminary reports suggest that the suspects were driving a Mercedes-Benz Class A. They allegedly approached the victims and fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene. Tragically, one victim succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital, while the other passed away shortly thereafter.

Investigators recovered several cartridges at the scene and promptly opened a case involving two counts of murder. While the motive for the attack remains unclear, police’s swift investigative efforts led to the arrest of the two suspects. Authorities have confirmed that a third suspect is still at large but expressed confidence in apprehending him soon.

The arrested suspects were scheduled to appear in the Ermelo Magistrate's Court on Friday, 3 January 2025, to face murder charges.
