Police in Breyten are continuing their investigation after a woman was tragically killed in a farm accident at Elim Farm along the N11 near Ermelo on Wednesday, 5 November 2025.

According to authorities, the victim — identified as Bishop Fetjie Virginia Mngomezulu (61)— was struck by the discs of a tractor while attempting to signal the driver to stop. She died at the scene.

Her husband, Mr James Mngomezulu, told police he had rushed to the farm with a family friend after being informed that a tractor was ploughing his field. When they arrived, his wife stepped out of the vehicle to confront the driver. The tractor allegedly continued for nearly a kilometre before stopping.

Emergency services declared the woman dead on arrival.

Police have opened a case of culpable homicide, and the file has been sent to the Senior Public Prosecutor for further direction. No arrests have been made at this stage.
