On 25 June 2025, Executive Mayor Alderwoman MP Nkosi conducted an oversight visit to key infrastructure projects in Wesselton, including the ongoing reconstruction of the Mandela Bridge on Mandela Drive and the rehabilitation of Magwaza, Mabilisa, and Mabuza streets.
During her visit, the Mayor addressed residents of the Msukaligwa Local Municipality, acknowledging the frustration caused by the poor road conditions and ongoing disruptions. She extended an apology for the inconvenience and assured the community that significant progress is being made on the reconstruction of Mandela Bridge. While a completion date has not been confirmed, she promised that the project would be finalized soon.
Mayor Nkosi also expressed appreciation to the service providers for their collaboration with local SMMEs, which she said is contributing positively to the growth of small businesses in the area.
Further updates were provided on the reconstruction of Magwaza, Mabilisa, and Mabuza streets. The Mayor reaffirmed that contractors are actively working on-site and that these roads—critical arteries for daily commuting in Wesselton—are expected to be completed by the end of July.
She concluded by thanking the residents for their patience and understanding, reaffirming the municipality’s commitment to delivering improved infrastructure that meets the needs of the community.
