A 33-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the gruesome discovery of a man’s dismembered body in Extension 2, Wesselton, Ermelo. The 37-year-old victim was allegedly stabbed to death by a female companion following an argument, according to the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The incident was reported to police on Monday night, 11 August 2025. Responding officers arrived to find human remains concealed in two locations within the home — some inside a plastic bag and others hidden in a maize meal sack.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fatal stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute that escalated into violence. The suspect is now facing charges of murder as well as defeating the ends of justice, and is expected to appear in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 August 2025.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the individual who reported the matter to authorities. He also voiced concern over the rising number of murder cases involving people in close relationships.

Investigations are still ongoing as police work to establish a full picture of the events that led to the killing.
