The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed a R10 increase across key social grants effective in the October 2025 payment cycle, aligning with adjustments flagged in the national 2025/26 Budget earlier this year.
The updated amounts are as follows:
- Old Age Grant: from R2 310 to R2 320
- Old Age (75+): from R2 330 to R2 340
- War Veterans Grant: from R2 330 to R2 340
- Disability Grant: from R2 310 to R2 320
- Care Dependency Grant: from R2 310 to R2 320
SASSA CEO Themba Matlou welcomed the adjustment as a continued effort to cushion vulnerable households against economic pressures, adding that “it’s all systems go” for October payments.
October payment dates:
- Old Age: 2 October
- Disability: 3 October
- Children’s Grants: 6 October
