Motorists travelling along the N2 southbound between Leiden (km 59.0) and Camden (km 87.4) are advised to expect temporary road closures this afternoon due to scheduled blasting operations as part of ongoing road improvement works.

According to the South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL), the controlled blasting will take place between 14:00 and 15:00, 07 October affecting traffic flow in both directions near km 65.220 and km 65.640. During this time, all vehicles will be stopped approximately 500 metres from the blasting area to ensure the safety of road users and construction crews.

Delays of up to 60 minutes may occur while the area is cleared and made safe for travel. SANRAL has urged motorists to plan ahead, exercise patience, and follow the instructions of flag personnel on site.

This work forms part of the NRA N.002-340-2015/2R contract, aimed at upgrading and improving safety along the N2 section between Leiden and Camden — a vital transport corridor for the region that links Msukaligwa with surrounding towns and industries.

Residents and regular commuters are encouraged to share this information to help reduce congestion and ensure a smoother traffic flow during the blasting period. SANRAL apologised for any inconvenience and thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation as efforts continue to enhance road quality and safety in the area.
