Three people have lost their lives following a collision involving two bakkies on the N4 near Middelburg Dam on Friday, 28 November 2025. The crash occurred at around 11:30.
According to the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, the driver of a bakkie travelling from the Mbombela direction allegedly lost control and veered into the oncoming lane, where it collided with another bakkie heading from Emalahleni.
A male driver and two passengers — a woman and a young boy — were declared deceased on the scene.
Two young girls sustained serious injuries, while the second vehicle’s male driver, a female passenger and a young boy were treated for minor injuries before being transported to a nearby hospital.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison expressed condolences to the affected families and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
