11 Arrested Suspects Head to Court

Eleven suspects aged between 21 and 62 appeared in court after being arrested during an Operation Safer Festive Season initiative conducted by the Gert Sibande District team in Embalenhle on Friday, 28 November 2025.

The operation, which targeted various criminal activities, resulted in arrests linked to several offences, including:

  • Stock theft (2 suspects from Limpopo)
  • Assault on a police officer
  • Possession of a dangerous weapon
  • Contravention of the Immigration Act (7 suspects)
  • Reckless and negligent driving

Police also issued 18 fines, of which 16 were for contraventions of the Mpumalanga Liquor Act 5 of 2006, while 2 related to breaches of the Road Traffic Act.

The suspects appeared before the Ermelo and Embalenhle Magistrate’s Courts on Monday, 1 December 2025.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the team for their efforts and for the successes achieved under the 2025/2026 Safer Festive Season Operations.
