A widely circulated Facebook post has sparked renewed discussion about deteriorating service delivery in Ermelo, particularly in Ward 5, where residents say they have endured weeks of unaddressed sewage spills, infrastructure failures, and ongoing neglect.

One of the most pressing concerns raised in the post is a sewage leak that has reportedly been flowing for three weeks. The councillor described the situation as a serious health hazard, saying the raw sewer runs "right outside our homes" and near areas where children play.

The post also pointed to ongoing issues with burst water pipes, leaving some residents without water while others witness excessive wastage. In addition, the councillor claimed that certain streetlights in Upper Faurie have been non-functional for more than five years, raising safety concerns for residents.

Councillor Peachey stated that she is "actively following up," adding: "I will not rest until we receive real answers, real action, and real accountability." She emphasised that the community deserves better and pledged to continue pressing for improvements.

The post concluded with a message of resilience: "Ermelo, cry if you must… But we will rise. Together as Ward 5. Together as a community deserving of dignity."
