Gert Sibande TVET College Unveils New 4IR Lab in Standerton

Deputy President Paul Mashatile officially launched the 4IR Lab and Millwright Centre of Specialisation at Gert Sibande TVET College in Standerton on 14 April 2026, marking a significant step toward advancing technical skills development in the region.

 



The launch took place at the Skills Academy and Artisan Development Centre in Standerton, within the Gert Sibande District Municipality. The facility forms part of a broader national rollout by the Department of Higher Education and Training, which has established 64 Centres of Specialisation across TVET colleges countrywide.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening South Africa’s readiness for the Fourth Industrial Revolution by equipping young people with practical, industry-relevant skills. The new lab and workshop are expected to play a key role in fostering innovation, supporting technical training, and preparing students for future employment opportunities in a rapidly evolving economy.
