Excitement filled the air in Ermelo on Saturday, 26 April, as crowds gathered at FreshStop @ Denne Motors for a rare sight in the area — a real Formula 1 car on display. Residents, families and motorsport fans turned out in large numbers for an up-close look at the high-performance machine, making it one of the most talked-about events in town this year. The event was organised by FreshStop @ Denne Motors in partnership with Red Bull.
Visitors had the opportunity to take photos with the car, test their skills on an F1 simulator, and enjoy a day centred around the world of motorsport. The free event created a vibrant atmosphere, with people of all ages sharing in the excitement.
Both adults and children were drawn to the simulator experience, while others took time to appreciate the design and engineering of the Formula 1 vehicle. For many attendees, it was not just a first for Ermelo — but their first time ever seeing a Formula 1 car in real life.
The car reflected the design of modern Formula 1 machines — built for extreme speed and precision. With its low, wide aerodynamic body, large front and rear wings, and distinctive halo safety device, it offered a glimpse into a sport where cars can exceed speeds of 300km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in around 2.5 seconds.
A competitive edge was added through the F1 simulator leaderboard, where participants battled it out for the fastest lap times. The top three drivers — Stephan Joubert, Uwais Chothia, and Francois Joubert — secured the leading positions and have been invited to visit management at FreshStop to claim their prizes.
Organisers thanked the community for the strong support and turnout, adding that they hope to bring more unique events to the town in future. For one day, Ermelo experienced life in the fast lane — and the response showed just how much it was appreciated.
