Suspect Arrested With Dagga Worth Over R3 Million

A 37-year-old suspect has been arrested after members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) discovered more than R3 million worth of dagga during a routine patrol near Kaapmuiden.

According to a media statement issued by the Office of the Provincial Commissioner in Mpumalanga, SAPS members stationed at Kaapmuiden were conducting patrol duties along the N4 Road on 20 May 2026 when they noticed a brown Toyota Hilux parked on the roadside.

Upon investigating, officers reportedly found 41 bags loaded inside the vehicle. The confiscated dagga weighed approximately 502.6 kilograms and has an estimated street value exceeding R3 million.

The suspect was arrested at the scene on charges of dealing in dagga and is expected to appear before the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
