The Mpumalanga Department of Health has issued a public warning to residents about scammers who are targeting unsuspecting job seekers and bursary applicants.

According to the department, fraudsters are approaching members of the public with promises of employment opportunities or bursaries in exchange for money. The department said this practice is unlawful and stressed that it does not sell jobs or require payment for employment opportunities.

The department further warned that scammers are increasingly contacting desperate job seekers and requesting payment while claiming to facilitate possible employment within the health sector.

Residents are urged not to pay any person claiming to offer jobs or bursaries on behalf of the Department of Health and to report such incidents to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
