A multidisciplinary high-density operation in Mbombela resulted in several arrests, business compliance actions and the confiscation of illicit liquor worth more than R2 million.
The operation was conducted on Friday, 18 September, and was led by Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu, MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Jacky Macie, City of Mbombela Executive Mayor Sibongile Makhushe and Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise.

Officials from SAPS, Provincial Traffic Law Enforcement, Home Affairs, SARS, Correctional Services, the City of Mbombela, private security and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator participated.
During the operation, counterfeit goods worth more than R100 000 were confiscated, while three suspects were arrested for allegedly dealing in dagga valued at approximately R50 000.

Six undocumented people were arrested for alleged contraventions of the Immigration Act, while Correctional Services officials traced and arrested six parolees who had allegedly absconded.
Three unroadworthy vehicles were impounded, two unlicensed liquor outlets were closed, and six shops were found operating without Certificates of Acceptability.
The Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority also issued 49 non-compliance notices.
Modise said multidisciplinary operations would continue across Mpumalanga as authorities work to enforce compliance with the law and address criminal activity.
