Laerskool Ermelo’s soccer team proudly represented the school at the Piet Retief Soccer Tournament on 27 and 28 August, returning home with a well-deserved third-place finish.
The team opened with a convincing 4-1 victory over Montessori before defeating Drakensberg 2-1. ELS then went down 2-0 against Piet Retief but bounced back with a 1-0 win over Alpha and Omega. The results saw ELS finish third overall in the tournament.
The team ended its campaign on a positive note, securing another 1-0 victory over Real Betis in its final match.
Two Laerskool Ermelo players also received individual recognition during the tournament. Xolile Zulu was named Laerskool Ermelo Player of the Tournament, while Orepeletse Mathibe received the award for Most Improved Player.
