The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms on Thursday, 24 September. The warning is valid from 12:00 until 23:59 and includes Ermelo and surrounding areas.
Showers and thundershowers are expected over central Mpumalanga from the afternoon. According to the warning, possible impacts include localised flooding on roads and at low-lying bridges, damage to roofs and carports from hail or strong winds, and injuries or power disruptions caused by lightning.
Residents should take care on the roads and avoid exposed areas during thunderstorms.
