Msukaligwa Local Municipality has announced a water supply interruption affecting several areas of Ermelo following an electricity-related incident. An electricity outage was reported at the Northern Water Treatment Works after the backup generator failed to start, prompting the municipality to dispatch maintenance teams to carry out repairs and restore operations.
The affected areas include Wesselton Extensions, Ermelo East, Ermelo Town, the Industrial Area and portions of Nederland Park, where residents may experience low water pressure or no water supply. The municipality noted that the installation of an additional pump to improve water supply is 80% complete and expected to be finalised today, which should enhance system stability. Residents are urged to use water sparingly while repair work continues, with further updates to be shared as progress is made.
