The South African government has moved to reassure the public that there is no immediate fuel shortage, despite growing concerns linked to global geopolitical tensions. Authorities have urged motorists and businesses not to panic, emphasising that the country’s fuel supply remains stable and that there are no restrictions currently in place.

According to the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, officials are closely monitoring the situation and working with fuel industry stakeholders to ensure continuity of supply. The department confirmed that additional fuel shipments are already en route to South Africa, while contingency measures have been put in place to manage any potential disruptions caused by international supply challenges.

However, government acknowledged that South Africa remains vulnerable due to its reliance on imported fuel following the closure of several local refineries. While supply is expected to remain stable in the short term, consumers may still feel the impact through rising fuel prices driven by global market pressures rather than local shortages.
