The Gert Sibande District Municipality is encouraging residents to take action against plastic pollution during Plastic Pollution Awareness Week, taking place from 22 to 26 June 2026.
Plastic waste continues to threaten rivers, oceans, wildlife, and communities, with single-use plastics remaining one of the biggest contributors to environmental pollution. The municipality is urging residents to make simple but meaningful changes by reducing plastic use, choosing reusable alternatives, and recycling responsibly.
“Our Planet. Our Health. Our Future.” remains the message of the week as communities are encouraged to be part of the solution and help build a cleaner, greener tomorrow.
