The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has alerted consumers to a nationwide recall of selected SPAR yoghurt products following a notification by SPAR. The recall affects SPAR Fat Free Yoghurt, Low Fat Yoghurt, Double Cream Yoghurt, Indulge Double Cream Yoghurt and SPAR Active Drinking Yoghurt products.
The affected products have a sell-by date of 9 August 2026 and a use-by date of 12 August 2026, and were sold nationally through SPAR stores from 15 June 2026. According to the NCC, SPAR reported that a machine malfunction during production resulted in “product blowing”, which may cause changes to the yoghurt’s taste, smell and appearance. Consumption may cause stomach upset.
Consumers are urged not to consume the affected products and should return them to their nearest SPAR store for a full refund or exchange. Questions relating to the recall may be directed to ProductRecall@thencc.org.za.
