The Ermelo Bowling Club welcomed military veterans from across South Africa for the annual MOTH Bowls Tournament, which was held from Monday to Thursday and celebrated sportsmanship, camaraderie and remembrance.
The tournament officially began with an opening parade before play got underway. Hosted by the Monte Sole Shellhole, the event attracted 64 veterans representing 16 teams from 10 Shellholes, with participants travelling from Mpumalanga, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal to compete.
The Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTH), founded in 1927, is a military veterans' organisation dedicated to promoting comradeship, mutual support and remembrance. The annual tournament continued to uphold those values while giving veterans the opportunity to renew friendships through the sport.
