In late December 2021, an Ermelo resident shopping at a shopping centre in Ermelo was allegedly drugged by perpetrators who robbed her of her handbag and other belongings.

According to the victim, she visited the shopping centre's supermarket when a woman approached her in the store and started to talk to her. After the brief conversation with the stranger, the victim says she can't recall any further events regarding the incident. The victim was allegedly drugged during the engagement with the stranger, which caused the victim to be conscious but not aware of her surroundings.
