Two former Liggies are making headlines as they step up to coach provincial youth teams for the Pumas.
𝗠𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘂𝘀 is no stranger to netball, she was a netball star back in her high school days. She played assistant goalie for Ligbron’s first team for two years and proudly represented the Pumas for four years, either as assistant goalie or assistant goal defender. She’s now the coach of Ligbron’s U/14 A team, and this year she’ll also lead the Pumas U/15 A2 team! Not only has she been a coach and team manager for the Pumas before, but she’s also a certified Level 3 referee.
𝗠𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗲 brings serious rugby firepower to the field. He was a lock for Ligbron’s first team in 2011, played for the Puma Countryside team in 2013 and 2014, and held the fullback spot in Ermelo Rugby Club’s first team for seven years. After coaching for a decade—including at JJ van der Merwe Primary and now Ligbron—he returns to the Pumas as the U/15B coach. He’s also a seasoned referee who officiated everything from primary to senior matches. Talk about a full house of talent!
These two Liggies-turned-coaches are proof that passion and perseverance pay off. Ligbron is beyond proud to see them guiding the next generation of provincial stars.
