On 9 June 2025, strong winds swept through Ermelo, with sustained speeds of 10–37 km/h and gusts reaching up to 76 km/h. The gusts toppled trees and large branches onto streets across the Msukaligwa Municipality, prompting municipal road crews to direct traffic and clear obstructed routes.
In Cassim Park, the permanent white tent belonging to God Never Fails Ministries collapsed entirely under the force of the winds. The canvas fabric tore away from its fittings while the steel frame buckled and crumpled, leaving the structure in ruins on the church grounds.
Today, winds have eased to sustained speeds of 7–34 km/h, with gusts up to 68 km/h. Forecasters warn that gusty bursts remain possible, and temperatures are expected to drop steadily over the coming weekend. Residents are advised to secure outdoor fixtures and report hazardous debris to the Msukaligwa Municipality emergency hotline as the town prepares for continued breezy and cooler conditions.
