Emergency services were called to the scene of a severe accident involving a car, a bakkie, and a pedestrian early Thursday morning. The incident occurred at the corner of Power Street and N11, opposite the graveyard, under heavy misty conditions.
The exact circumstances leading to the accident remain unclear. When approached by iNews, those involved declined to comment. “We haven’t even given our statement yet to the police and still have to go to the police station,” stated one of the individuals involved.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries, including a partial foot amputation. Provincial paramedics promptly provided first aid before transporting the injured man to the hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, no occupants in the vehicles sustained any injuries.
In a troubling turn of events, an emergency worker responsible for documenting the accident claimed that one of the parties involved in the crash reportedly took their phone and deleted the photos documenting the scene. The individual reportedly identified themselves as a police officer, despite not being in uniform.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
