A 11-year- old boy as well as a 26-year old male where injured and taken to hospital for treatment, after being hit by stray bullets. The SAPS has warned members of the public numerous times not to fire shots randomly into the air.
On Friday evening around 21:00 the boy was at home. He heard four shots being fired. One projectile penetrated the roof of the house and injured the boy on his thigh. Saturday evening around 22:00, the male was hit in the back by a stray bullet, once again after an unknown person randomly fired shots with a firearm in Extension 32 in the vicinity of Bongi's Tavern.
Ermelo SAPS are investigating cases of attempted murder in both incidents. Suspects in both incidents will face charges of attempted murder, reckless and negligent handling of a firearm, as well as firing a weapon in a municipal area. The guilty parties will most likely be declared unfit to possess a firearm in future.
Any person with information that might assist the investigations is requested to call Captain Prinsloo on 079 891 4813.
