Dobby se Hobby, a new fishing shop located above Down Town Liquors, extended a generous act of kindness on Sunday, 30 November, by taking all 54 children from CMR Ermelo for a memorable day of fishing and braai at Onspan. For many of the children, it was their first-ever visit to a fishing venue, and for several, their first time catching a fish. The excitement was contagious as every child eagerly joined in, learning new skills and enjoying the day to the fullest.
Although most of the children started the morning with no knowledge of fishing, by the time they headed home, each one could bait a hook, cast independently, and confidently participate. The brand‑new fishing rods and reels they received were gifted to them to take home, ensuring they can continue exploring the hobby whenever the opportunity arises.
A total of 37 fish were caught during the outing, all using Dobby se Hobby’s own mieliebom, floaties, and dips. The Banana flavour proved to be the day’s top performer, delivering the best results. The event not only created unforgettable memories but also introduced the children to a wholesome outdoor activity.
Dobby se Hobby extended heartfelt thanks to the businesses and individuals whose contributions made the day possible: Jaco and Lisa, FcBenecke Afslaers, CLM Metal Processors, Speedy Water, Burger Spring Kastele, and Afgri. Their support played a vital role in ensuring the success of this meaningful initiative.
