The Msukaligwa Local Municipality has issued a public notice raising concern over damage being caused to road infrastructure across the community.
According to the municipality, the practice of erecting tents and marquees by drilling holes, nailing, or hammering sharp objects into tarred or paved roads is contributing to the rapid deterioration of road surfaces. These actions lead to the formation of potholes and increase long-term maintenance costs.
Residents have been urged to refrain from this practice, as it not only affects the lifespan of roads but also compromises road safety and disrupts traffic flow. The municipality emphasised its commitment to maintaining quality infrastructure and indicated that measures will be taken to prevent further damage.
Community members are encouraged to respect municipal property and to make use of alternative venues when setting up tents or marquees. For enquiries, residents can contact the municipal roads section.
