Local Government Elections Set for 4 November 2026

South Africa’s seventh Local Government Election date has finally been announced and is set to take place on 4 November 2026, following confirmation by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The elections, which are held every five years, will determine the struct ureof municipal councils across the country, including mayors, ward councillors and proportional representation representatives. These leaders play a key role in decisions affecting service delivery, infrastructure and community development at a local level.
