The Msukaligwa Local Municipality conducted an oversight visit to Extensions 32, 33 and 34 in Ermelo on 13 May 2026 to assess progress on the ongoing sewer reticulation network upgrade project in Ward 16. The visit was led by Executive Mayor Alderwoman M.P. Nkosi and included the Speaker of Council, the Whip of Council, Members of the Mayoral Committee, senior officials and contractors involved in the project.

According to the municipality, the oversight forms part of its broader infrastructure monitoring programme aimed at addressing sewer spillages, improving sanitation services and strengthening service delivery in affected residential areas. Officials noted that construction and installation work is continuing across the extensions, with visible progress being made as the project advances.

As part of the visit, municipal leadership and technical teams also conducted door-to-door engagements with residents who had previously experienced sewer-related issues. Residents reportedly welcomed the improvements, stating that sewer spillages and related problems at their homes had significantly decreased. The municipality said it remains committed to improving infrastructure maintenance, accelerating service delivery and ensuring sustainable basic services through continued oversight and accountability.
