During the past weekend, Ligbron’s U/15 cricket team played against Sutherland High School from Centurion as part of the Finsbury Cricket League.
The Liggies won the match with 241 runs. Sutherland won the toss and opted to bowl first. The opponents could not measure up against RJ Kinnear, Ligbron’s top batsman, who scored 173 runs from 132 balls. When it was the Liggies’ turn to bowl, Juwan Coetzee was the team star for taking four wickets from only 21 balls.
Ultimately, Ligbron scored 358 runs for five wickets within their 50 overs. Sutherland’s final score was 117 runs for ten wickets in 34 overs.
The first teams of the two schools also played each other. Ligbron lost the match with three wickets. Ruben Botha scored 36 runs from 51 balls, and Henco Scheepers took two wickets from 15 balls.
