Months of dedication, late-night study sessions, and unwavering determination culminated in a moment of celebration as the Class of 2024 was honoured at the Matric Mayoral Excellence Awards. Hosted by the Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM) at one of its halls on Wednesday, 29 January, the event recognised top-performing learners who excelled in their final exams.

The ceremony brought together Executive Mayor Cllr MP Nkosi, circuit managers, Gert Sibande District officials, school principals from all three circuits, stakeholders, and sponsors to applaud the students’ achievements.

Mayor Nkosi commended the learners for their dedication and the educators for their unwavering support. She highlighted Msukaligwa 1’s outstanding performance, noting that it ranked as the top-performing circuit in the Gert Sibande District and secured second place overall in Mpumalanga. She encouraged parents to remain actively involved in their children’s education, emphasising the importance of attending school meetings and offering consistent support at home.

“Without education, there is no brighter future,” she said.

Nkosi also expressed the municipality’s ambition to elevate all schools further and compete at a provincial level to become the top-performing municipality in Mpumalanga.

Special appreciation was extended to Circuit Manager Dr Mango, principals, educators, and, most importantly, the learners for their perseverance in achieving academic success.
