Four people were killed on Sunday in a tragic head-on collision involving two sedans on the R38 between Hendrina and Carolina. According to authorities, the victims include two passengers and a driver from one vehicle, as well as the sole occupant of the second sedan. All four were declared dead on the scene, and no additional injuries were reported. An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr Jackie Macie, has urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads, especially during rainy conditions. He emphasised that wet weather significantly reduces visibility and impacts vehicle handling.
“We are therefore calling for heightened vigilance and stricter adherence to the rules to avoid devastating crashes. Motorists must operate their vehicles in line with prevailing road conditions. They must reduce speed and increase following distances,” said Macie.
