AVBOB has recently handed over its 71st container library to Bashele Primary School in Ermelo, Mpumalanga. The new facility, which holds 3 000 books aligned to the CAPS curriculum, is set to open doors of opportunity for learners by giving them access to a wide range of books and educational resources. In addition, all learners will be receiving their own dictionary, ensuring that every child benefits directly from this initiative.

In a statement, AVBOB expressed pride in supporting education through their container library programme. "We’re proud to hand over the 71st AVBOB container library to Bashele Primary School in Ermelo, Mpumalanga! This new library will provide students with access to a wide range of books and learning resources, fostering a love for reading and education," the organisation said. Delivering the keynote address, AVBOB General Manager Ms. Kebo Mosweusweu emphasised the company’s commitment to uplifting schools and promoting literacy across South Africa.

The handover ceremony featured contributions from various stakeholders. On behalf of the Department of Basic Education, District Director Mr. Peter Magagula extended appreciation, while Msukaligwa Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Honourable Mapulana Precious Nkosi, acknowledged the importance of the library for the community. Bashele Primary School Principal, Mrs. Simphiwe Patience Sibiya, reminded learners: "Students, this library belongs to you. Thank you AVBOB, a library is more than a gesture."

Learners also expressed their excitement. Grade 7 learner Phindulo Mukhudwane shared: "This will save us money, we used to go to Thusi or Wesselton library, but now we have one here. It will help us learn, read and will preserve information."

As part of the celebrations, AVBOB hosted a spelling bee competition for learners in Grades 5 to 7. Winners included Owethu Mayisela, Lwandle Nkosi, and Melokuhle Nkabinde. Their achievements underscored the purpose of the day: to inspire a love for words, reading, and lifelong learning.
