Hoërskool Ermelo learners excel in sport during school holidays

Hoërskool Ermelo learners returned from the school holidays with an impressive list of achievements across horse rinding, hockey and netball, with several pupils earning provincial and national recognition while representing both the school and Mpumalanga.

The school's hores riders delivered outstanding performances at the SANESA Qualifiers 3 and 4. Carla Watt dominated the Level 3 competition by winning both Qualifier 3 and Qualifier 4. In Level 1, Hannah Potgieter secured second place in Qualifier 3, while Janey vd Watt improved from fifth place in Qualifier 3 to third place in Qualifier 4. Donnay Pretorius celebrated moving up from Level 0 to Level 2 with a third-place finish in Qualifier 4, while Clarisse Moodlman progressed from Level 1 to Level 2 and claimed first place in Qualifier 3 before adding a second-place finish in Qualifier 4.

Errie hockey players also made their mark during the holidays. Nathan Herbst represented the Mpumalanga U18B side at the national tournament, where the team finished seventh overall. He also scored Mpumalanga's first goal of the tournament.

At Bokkieweek in Naboomspruit, Willem Jacobsz, Jan-Paul Grey, Connor Erasmus and Stiaan van den Heever represented the Hoëveld U19 team, while Heindre Hattingh, Francois Boshoff and Nicolaas Uys were selected for the Hoëveld U15 side. The school also recognised Zita Jacobs and Mandi Hattingh, who served as coaches of the Hoëveld U15 team.

The school's netball programme also celebrated several notable achievements. Abigail Holman was selected among the Top 35 Under-16 netball players in South Africa, while Jul. Lee-Ann Botha helped the Mpumalanga Under-12 team claim the national title.

At the Bokkies Netbal tournament in Miescskloof, Michelle van der Merwe was selected for the Duikerspan and Leané du Plessis earned selection to the Invitational Team.
