At just 16 years old, Chibuzo and Chinedu Okpugo have added another remarkable achievement to their growing list of karate accomplishments after successfully passing their National Development Judge B examinations in both Kata and Kumite.
The twins recently completed the demanding assessments, earning certification as National Development Judge B officials in both disciplines. Their success makes them the youngest individuals in the country, and in the history of Karate South Africa, to achieve these qualifications.

The achievement comes as the brothers continue to excel both on and off the tatami. Having recently moved into the junior divisions after turning 16, they are not only building their competitive careers at national and international level but are now also qualified to officiate at karate events. Their latest milestone reflects their dedication to every aspect of the sport, demonstrating a commitment to developing as athletes, officials and ambassadors for karate in South Africa.

The historic accomplishment further cements the Okpugo twins' reputation as two of South Africa's brightest young karate talents, with Chibuzo and Chinedu continuing to break new ground while inspiring the next generation of martial artists. Their achievement also reflects the high standard of officiating development within their dojo under the guidance of their Sensei, Eugene Smith, who serves as the Chief Referee for Karate Mpumalanga.
