Former Hoërskool Ermelo athlete Kryn Romijn delivered a commendable performance on the international stage, finishing seventh in the men’s 400m final at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, in the United States.
Romijn crossed the finish line with a time of 46.16 seconds during the final on August 7, earning his place among the world’s leading U20 400m athletes. Fellow South African Leendert Koekemoer claimed the bronze medal in 44.96 seconds.

Romijn also helped South Africa secure the silver medal in the men’s 4x400m relay. Alongside Ryno Riekert, Abelines Schoeman and Koekemoer, they recorded a time of 3:02.76, setting a new African U20 record.
