A sewer reticulation project set to benefit 630 households in Ward 12 officially entered the implementation phase on Monday, 24 August, when Msukaligwa Executive Mayor Alderwoman M.P. Nkosi handed the project over to the appointed contractor in Warburton.
The project includes 630 household sewer connections and the construction of 630 waterborne toilet structures. Work will also involve installing sewer pipelines, constructing manholes, testing the new system and connecting it to the existing sewer network.
Phase one is expected to create 20 local work opportunities, while 30% of the project has been allocated to local small, medium and micro enterprises. Opportunities include security services, plant and equipment hire, toilet construction, property connections, tipper-truck services and the provision of water tanks.
Following the handover, Nkosi and municipal representatives met with residents at the Warburton Sports Ground to provide information about the planned work, implementation phases and opportunities associated with the project.
